Prithviraj Chauhan and Sanyogita's marriage :
Prithviraj Chauhan and Sanyogita's love story is famous all over India because of it's desirable concept. They didn't have any meetings before the event of Rajsuyagya.According to the text of Prithvirajraso, the story begins with the rivalry of Jaychandra and Prithviraj Chauhan.India was divided into two kingdoms, one of the Chauhans and the other of the Gahadavalas. The Gahadvala ruler Jaychandra want to become the Emperor of the whole of India and he extended his empire and subdued all the kings except Prithviraj Chauhan. He sent a letter to Prithviraj in which he told Prithviraj to accept his supremacy.Prithviraj refused to accept Jaychandra's supremacy which resulted in the strong rivalry between the two kingdoms.
On the other hand, when Samyukta heard of Prithviraj Chauhan, she fell in love with him and there was communication through letters. When a painter showed the painting of Sanyogita to Prithviraj,he was fascinated. They decided to marry each other, but Jaychandra refused the peace from Prithviraj's side.

He got angry with Samyukta as well and announced Swayamvar for her on the same day of Rajsuyagya (a process of Yagya for becoming emperor). He also placed a statue of Prithviraj Chauhan outside the royal court to defame him by displaying him as a doorkeeper.Till the time,Prithviraj got the news of Swayamvar and reached Kannauj. He also decided to teach Jaychandra a lesson.Early in the morning Swayamvar was started. All small and big kings were invited to this Swayamvar.Sanyogita rejected everyone in the line and reached the statue of Prithviraj Chauhan and put on the garland in the Prithiviraj Chauhan's statue.
And suddenly Prithviraj Chauhan came riding on his horse with some troops.Sanyogita and Prithviraj had planned for this.Prithviraj Chauhan teased Jaychandra and challenged him to stop him and also to all the kings present in the Swayamvar. But none came forward to accept his challenge and Prithviraj Chauhan successfully escaped from Kannauj. But it was hard for Prithviraj to escape as Jaychandra's army was following him.Pajmandev (the most valuable commander of Prithviraj's army) lost his life in this action. However,Prithviraj reached Delhi and married Samyukta Chauhan with all rituals.
Prithviraj Chauhan's love story is still sung in the forms of folklores in Rajasthan.Sanyogita and Prithviraj Chauhan and Samyukta's love story is glorified by many historians. After Prithviraj Chauhan's marriage there were two battles fought between the forces of Chauhans and Gahadavalas, but every time the mighty Chauhan forces gained victory according to Prithvirajraso. Prithviraj Chauhan's wife's death topic is slightly debatable, but there are some conclusions proved in the research of Reality of Indian history.According to some historians,Sanyogita Chauhan died after being captured by Muhammad Ghori and was raped. But,no evidence or any sense is found in such allegations which resulted in consideration of them as rumours and intent of spreading this false information can be observed by reading the article provided of false account and they aren't reliable too and there were no meeting between Sanyogita and Chisti. The actual conclusion is not made by anyone. But,according to research, Sanyogita/ Samyukta Chauhan committed Jauhar. There are proofs too:
Muhammad Ghori and Naikidevi's incident had spread all over the country in the 12th century, knowing the fact that Jaychandra is going to help the Malecha Ghori,Prithviraj must have sent all the women in the palace of Delhi to Ajmer as the homeland used to be the safest place for women during that period. And the security in the fort of Ajmer was increased knowing the fact that Ghori will battle Prithviraj. And this fact is accurate because in that period women were sent to their homeland/safe places before the war(where the defence system was strong).Jauhar can be performed in the fort of Ajmer as there was Jauhar Kund present in the fort of Ajmer.
Ajmer Jauhar Kund |
And looking at the image,it is can be proved that Prithviraj's wife Sanyogita Chauhan committed Jauhar. Also, after this incident, there is no mention of Sanyogita nor Prithviraj Chauhan's daughter anywhere.Which indicate that some important incident took place in this small interval of time. The death of Sanyogita has been very simple to understand, but some Britishers tried to made a sniff in the matter of Sanyogita's death history.
According to some new reports, Prithviraj Chauhan's wife's death's reason is being a sati. As many sources like Prithvirajvijaya states that the queens were at Ajmer and the brother of Prithviraj, Hariraja was too residing at the 2nd capital Ajmer. It is known that after Prithviraj Chauhan was imprisoned, many territories of the Chauhan Empire were under controlled and probably ruled by wife of Prithviraj Chauhan Samyukta as Hariraja's rule before Prithviraj's death doesn't fit because he wasn't eligible due to being a grown alcoholic. But there are indications in many sources like Janpal ki patti that probably Sanyogita (or 'Samyukta Prithviraj Chauhan') was ruling those territories before Prithviraj Chauhan's death. And after the news of his death came up, the queens became Sati in the Jauhar Kund which gets fit as the reason of sending Prithviraj's son from Ajmer to Ranthambore at a young age can't be other than facing his mother's death and his uncle's addiction(Hariraja). The reason behind this can be a better upbringing of Govindraja at Ranthambore. Rani Samyukta's death reason is probably being a Sati. Sanyogita died at a young age. The new report changed Prithviraj Chauhan's wife's death history.
Conclusion:
Prithviraj Chauhan's wife's history is never taught in our textbooks and it is been ignored.Prithviraj Chauhan's wife is an example of women's power and self-respect.Sanyogita's beauty and skill made her one of the best women figures in Indian history. There are many things we can learn from Sanyogita. Her life started as a princess and ended being a Sati. She is worshiped as Goddess in Rajasthan. The Ajmer Taragarh fort was later captured by Ranas of Mewar in the dynasty of Maharana Pratap after the decline of Chauhans and the Islamic rule on Ajmer.
